Have you been laid off from your work?

This checklist might be useful:

1. Contact NAV

Many workers are currently laid off on short or long term. If you are one of them, it is important to contact NAV (the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration).

You might be entitled to unemployment benefits ("dagpenger").

Please note that you will receive unemployment benefits at the earliest from the day you registered as a job seeker and applied for unemployment benefits.

You must stay in close contact with your employer when you have been temporarily laid off and notify NAV of any changes in your situation.

2. Contact your local Fellesforbundet department

Contact your local Fellesforbundet department and notify them about the change in your job situation. You might be entitled to pay reduced membership fees during this period.

Please find contact information to all departments here

3. Check what information we have about you

Log onto "My page" and make sure you are registered with correct phone number, e-mail address and bank account number. This enables us to provide you with relevant information while you are laid off.

You will find the link to "My page" in the top right corner of this page.

4. Financial issues?

Make sure to contact your bank as soon as possible if you face financial issues.

Important information

  • You might be called back to work on short notice while you are laid off
  • You may take another job while being laid off, but this temporarily eliminates your right to unemployment benefits
  • While laid off, you may resign from your job with 14 days notice counting from the day your employer receives the resignation.
